Publitio February Product Update – Presets Take Center Stage

February has been a big month at Publitio — not just incremental improvements, but meaningful upgrades that give you more control, flexibility, and power over your media workflows.

Let’s dive into what’s new

Presets Are Now Front and Center

This is the biggest update of the month.
Presets are no longer hidden away in settings.
They now live directly in the sidebar, giving them the visibility and power they deserve.

Presets are no longer just configuration helpers — they’re now production tools.

You can now:

  • Automatically create file versions on upload using presets
  • Apply presets to existing files to instantly generate new versions
  • Define transformation options upfront and standardize your workflow
  • Build and save your own preset configurations

This means you can:

  • Automatically generate thumbnails
  • Create optimized web versions
  • Produce social-media-ready formats
  • Standardize file outputs across teams

You can set a preset as a default and all new uploads through your dashboard will have these settings and versions.

Presets are now part of your everyday workflow — not an afterthought.

Metadata Editing Directly from the File Page

Managing metadata just got easier.

You can now update file metadata directly from the File Edit page. No more navigating away or using separate flows.

This allows you to update titles, descriptions, or custom metadata without friction.

Documents: Downloadable & Printable

Documents just became more flexible.

You can now control whether documents are:

  • Downloadable
  • Printable
  • Both - or neither

This gives you better control over how your content is consumed and distributed.

Perfect for reports, educational materials or internal documents.

Reupload Files Without Breaking Links

This is a major quality-of-life improvement.

You can now reupload and replace an already uploaded file — as long as it has the same extension — while keeping:

  • The same public_id
  • The same file code
  • The same URLs
  • The same embed codes

No broken links.
No re-embedding.
No updating frontend code.
Just replace and move on.

Keep in mind to clear your browsers cache if you still see the old version.

This is especially useful for:

  • Correcting files after publishing
  • Updating media while preserving SEO
  • Fixing production mistakes without disruption

Powerful New Transformations & Live Preview Modals

We’ve expanded transformation capabilities — and made them visual.

The feature is available on the details page of each file.
You can now preview changes before creating versions using the new transformation modals.

New image transformations include:

  • Crop gravity control — choose exactly where the crop focuses
  • Tint (RGB adjustment) — fine-tune image color tones
  • Flip & rotate
  • Blur
  • Brightness
  • Contrast
  • Sharpen
  • Pixelate
  • Gamma

Video & Audio Improvements

  • Choose the exact frame to use as a video image
  • Trim videos and audio more easily than ever

These additions give you more creative control directly inside Publitio — without needing external tools.

API Keys Now Have Names

Managing multiple API keys just got clearer.
You can now assign names to API keys, making it easy to identify production keys and staging keys, no more guessing which key belongs to which environment.

Community Page: Live Processing Count

Transparency upgrade.
The community page now displays the number of currently processing files.
This gives everyone better visibility into system activity and platform load in real time.

Infrastructure & System Optimizations

Behind the scenes, we’ve:

  • Further optimized our infrastructure
  • Improved system performance
  • Enhanced overall processing efficiency

You may not see these improvements directly — but you’ll feel them in speed, reliability, and stability.

Wrapping Up

February was all about:

  • Making presets powerful and visible
  • Giving you better control over files
  • Improving editing workflows
  • Expanding transformation possibilities
  • Increasing flexibility without breaking compatibility

As always, we’re focused on helping you manage, transform, and deliver media more efficiently.
